A nurse or the nurse

While working on an endocrinology ward, a nurse asked me if I could advice her on this new insulin-Abasalgar.

Should I say "a nurse" or "the nurse" please explain why?

    Thanks. I thought it should be "the nurse" as I have mentioned "while working on..." but then I though I haven't specified her so absolutely no idea

    Even if you haven't specified her, if she's the only nurse on the ward, you would use "the nurse," and presumably mention that she attended to the entire ward by herself in some other part of your writing.
