A period is needed after "Thank you" here, yes or no?

In the example below, I think that a period follows "Thank you" because it is followed by "Very respectfully," with the comma. If "Very respectfully" weren't there and we just used "Thank you," then a comma would follow "Thank you."
Do you agree?

Dear Joe:

(Body of text) . . .

Thank you.


Very respectfully,
