a pleasure to get to know you

I am writing a thank-you e-mail to someone with whom I had lunch yesterday. What I would say in English would be "It was a pleasure to have the time to get to know you." A literal translation would be something like " C’était un plaisir d’avoir le temps de se reconnaitre." Is there a more idiomatic way to say this?
