"a question straight out of Wichita, Kansas"

    I heard this sentence in the movie "All the President's men":

    "That’s a bullshit question, that’s a question straight out of Wichita, Kansas."

    Why? What happens in Wichita? Do they have lots of bulls or something like that?

    There are a lot of bulls there, but no, that's not the meaning.

    "Wichita, Kansas" is a bit of a go-to for "middle of the USA", and slightly "cow-town".
