is it a synonym of a vagrant, like a homeless person?

could you translate it by "un sans-abri"?

thanks for helping me and correcting my mistakes :)

    ou encore SDF

    définition officielle:
"People sleeping, or bedded down, in the open air (such as on the streets, or in doorways, parks or bus shelters); people in buildings or other places not designed for habitation (such as barns, sheds, car parks, cars, derelict boats, stations, or "bashes")."

    thanks a lot!

is it a commonly used expression or is it rather old-fashioned?

On le trouve assez couramment. En traduction, oui, c'est un sans-abri. C'est plus parlant avec un verbe: dormir à la dure, dormir par terre.
