Hi everybody!

I met the phrase “A Silk Purse from a Sow's Ear”. Actually it was the subtitle of some business article. I believe it is idiom but I can't find the meaning of it. Could you, please, explain the meaning?

Thanks in advance

It means that if you start with poor-quality materials, you cannot make them into a high-quality end product. It can be used literally or figuratively, I think.
