Hello,
I've had a quick look for a translation into German for a town or area's 'most famous son' (or for a woman, 'most famous daughter') and had no luck. I don't think there's any other way of putting it in English, but I'd say it means that the person mentioned is the most famous person to come from that particular place, e.g. 'Mozart is Salzburg's most famous son'.
Would it sound wrong to translate it literally into 'Mozart ist der berühmteste Sohn von Salzburg'?
Hope you can help!
