Hello Everybody,

We are currently translating a book about architecture. In a house description, they specify that they use mekoy timber for a door. We have no idea what this wood is in French. We looked up in different dictionaries, and searched on Google withous any success. So at the end, we think that they must be a typo in the original text.
Does anyone has a clue about what Mekoy could have stood for ?

Thanks for your help.:)

Do you know what is the origin of the wood?

Unfortunately no. It's a graphic (a section drawing) which explains some architectural details with captions. And one of the captions says :

'15 mm thick mekoy timber parquetry'.

That's all the info that we have.

I think that you're right. "Mekoy" seems to be a typo. The nearest name I found is "mekoe", but I will search more.

It would make sense. Mekoe or Pericopsis elata, Afrormosia elata (botanical names) is a very durable wood and is used for house flooring.

Who wrote that book? Non English speakers often do awful translations and they literaly invent new words..
Mekoy is a city of Ethiopia, maybe they have a special kind of wood..
