This is a request and we wait for an answer from the addressee.
Should we say:
We hope to have a written answer.
or:
We hope the answer to be written?
or how should we say?

Thank you in advance :

Sounds a bit strange/impolite either way using 'hope'. You could say, for example, we would appreciate a written response.

    or:
We hope the answer to be written? :cross:

Another possibility: "We are looking forward to a written answer".

On the original communication I would write:

    Please respond by return e-mail...

    Please respond by return fax...

Please respond by return U.S. post... (or postal system of your choice.)
