Abuse somebody' s illusions

The context is as it follows:

" You enjoy abusing people's illusions. I respect that. It's a thankless work."

My prompt guess is going to be: " Te gusta romper las ilusiones de los demás" , because, " Abusar de las ilusiones de los demas, sounds pretty artificial to me...or does anybody think it's actually naturally sounding?

Looking forward to your replies,
thanks a lot beforehand. :D

Sí, debería ser "disabusing people of their illusions" lo que significa "desilusionar." Sin embargo, tú traducción (romper las ilusionses) me parece bien.

Hey, thanks to all of you! :)

Now, donbeto, I've been listening to it repeatedly- it's an extract from a series- , but it definitely sounds to me like " abuse" ( I guess this one is to blame to the animators/script guys).

Okay, thanks onbalance, so "romper" is nice. And what about "jugar con" (?¿).

Thanks again for your replies :)
