Ciao :)

I need help with a short story I'm reading.

Context: a group of people won a trip to foreign country and [they] "sono naturalmente contenti e accettano."

Question: what's the best translation of "accettano" in this context?

They accept (the prize). I think.

"of course they're happy and accept (the prize)"
I believe that the object of "accettano" is the prize they won (in this case the trip). I can't think to other solutions...

    Sybil,

I'm a little surprised at seeing that a senior member like you entitled a thread "translation". I'm sure you've read about titles of threads lots of times, over and over again. How do I have to take this?

To answer your question, I know you had your answer already :), but I would assume "accettano" means they accept to go, though the first part of the phrase is missing...

    Ouch!
    I think I just got scolded ;-)
I beg for forgiveness. I guess I was in a hurry and typed in the first thing that came to mind. I firmly intend to use such thread subjects no more ;-)

And thanks for your clarification, Silvia. The sentence is "[X, Y, Z] sono naturalmente contenti e accettano." That's it :)

    Hope I'm forgiven ;-)

"Questa non e' l'inquisizione spagnola"? hahahahaha
    I hope not... hahaha...
    You're too funny, Silvia :)

Who could be mad at you anyway, Sybil, after reading your new signature! LOL, Lsp

Osobiście uważam, że włoski jest bardzo intuicyjny, zwłaszcza jeżeli zna się angielski. Nie uważasz?
