accommodate stress

Hi there,

I am familiar with the verb "accommodate" generally, but I can't get its meaning when combination with "stress" and "expansion". Can anyone explain and rewrite it in, for example, following sentence?

"The S-RGO composites with a unique saccule-like structure can provide buffer space to accommodate stress and volumetric expansion of sulfur during the charge-discharge process."

Your sentence talks about some kind of space in the first place: “can provide buffer space to accommodate stress and volumetric expansion of sulfur”, so you’re wrong. (It may be that it’s the results of said stress, such as slight vibrations or something akin to that, that need accommodating.)
