Hi,

In terms of "to give birth to" when referring to a child (baby), are these two interchangeable? Is one more technical (i.e. medical) and one is more familier, or are they used in the exact same way?

    Hi,

They both mean the exact same thing, but donner naissance à is definitely more elegant and stylish. When you say accoucher, you can picture the delivery, and it doesn't sound fine at all.
