Accueillir une base militaire

Senior Member
Hi everyone,

I am trying to translate "le pays X doit accueillir deux bases militaires et servir de base logistique".
My attempt so far: "X has to welcome/have two military bases and serve as a logistic base." I just don't know if welcome can be used in this context...I doubt it, it sounds weird...

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...

I don't think welcome is the best choice here. I'd probably say that X has to host two military bases. You can in fact welcome military bases into your community, but that carries the idea that the bases are, in fact, actually welcome as they will, for example, provide jobs for the local economy. That doesn't square well with have to in your sentence.
