In a personal statement:
Through the course of Java Programming, I achieved a high level of proficiency in the development of advanced GUI applications and network programming methods. It further inspired my logical thinking and innovative consciousness, which improved my analysis skills along with practical ability in the software design process.

Actually, I am not familiar with this phrase. My friend told me to use this blue phrase in replace of "master".
About the blue phrase "achieved a high level of proficiency", is it appropriate for this sentence?

Yes, it is. I think your friend's advice was good. That phrase doesn't sound as grandiose as master does in talk about your skill at something.
