How do you say "acotar" as in "la muestra acota un total de 338 pacientes"??
The sample is (*) limited to a total of 338 patients
* In the context of the original, "was" would probably be better.
That keeps the "boundary surveying" sense of "acotar", but it's probably not necessary to do so. I'd recommend:
The sample comprised a total of 338 patients
Separate names with a comma.
