    I don't know, and I doubt anyone can really tell you!

    I think it depends on context. Britain is a terrible mix of units in all areas of measurement. Things tend to be sold in metric units (hectares, metres, litres etc) but everyday folk still talk in imperial terms (acres, yards and pints etc).
