Add/reduce traffic burden

If more people work in the city, it will add more traffic burden to the public transportation If fewer people work in the city, it will reduce traffic burden to public transportation.

Is my usage of “add/reduce traffic burden” correct here? Thank you.

    It sounds odd to talk about 'traffic burden' in relation to public transport. 'It will reduce the burden on public transport' is what I would say.

    And, in any case, your sentence has other grammatical issues but, as you know, we are not allowed to re-write sentences.
