    Hi, there!

I am supposed to write an essay and I would like to know which word(add to or assist) is better in the following context

Most of students own a cellphone. Competing with such a device has not been easy for teachers, not least due to the increasing access to social media. However, if used duly, it has much to add to/ assist education in general.

    Thank you

I don't care for either "add to" or "assist" in that sentence. If I agreed with your premise (as I understand it), I'd use "contribute to".

There are other problems with your sentences.

Please Parla, tell me the other erros, for me to improve my essay.

Can't "add to" mean "contribute to"?

"Most of students" should be Most students. "Duly" sounds strange to me.

Add to = increase the amount of. Contribute to = enhance, improve. Please refer to the WR Dictionary (access via the search box at the top of the page).
