    It helps us understand the question and give an accurate answer.

    I use "by mistake".

    "with" is incorrect, in my opinion.

    You have a couple (of) other preposition-free options:
    I mistakenly added sugar to your coffee.
    I goofed and added sugar to your coffee. (American English slang.)
