adult places

I've read this in a review of a hotel.

"...Those were the few good points, since the area of the hotel is surrounded with unfamous adult places".

Could someone clarify if it's a way of talking about sexshops or something similar, please?

    Yes, you are correct. When a thing or place is described as "adult", it is not appropriate for children. For example: adult language, adult themes, adult situations, adult films, adult entertainment, etcetera.

    So, adult places would be bars, theatres showing adult movies, shops selling sex toys...
