Example: 'It seems that while Vatican dwellers aren’t all that interested in Hollywood movies, they do enjoy adult related celluloid.'

Source: Adult films 'downloaded in Vatican City': Porn files 'shared in headquarters of Catholic Church'

Background: A download record has shed light on the private lives of Vatican priests on the internet. By looking up the IP addresses from Vatican on a torrent site, some user found that some priests have been illegally downloading porn and Hollywood movies.

Question: The use of "celluloid" stood out to me on reading the sentence. How does it sound to you? Is it used to gain some emphasis because of its rarity? Or is it used for humorous effect I'm not aware of?

Thank you George. I think the black and white adult movies from the good old days are not what they have been downloading.
I'm sure those priests get with the times on this matter. :D

It's hard to say, but my guess is that the author used celluloid to avoid using movies twice in one sentence, with only four words separating them. (Adult related should be hyphenated.)

Did I say/write that? Your question was about celluloid, not pornographic films..
