The following sentence was written by a non-native.
Even though the advance of technology brings numerous advantages to us, it poses harmful effects to human's life.
I don't think "advance of technology" is very properly written? Do you think it better to rephrase it into "development of technology"?

The sentence is correct and perfectly understandable, but this meaning of advance is less common than its other uses and may therefore sound slightly odd. You could use development, progress, and advances.
