advertised at/in the Times

What's the correct preposition?

Is it advertised in or at a newspaper?

Do you put the advert in or at the newspaper?

I would use "in". I think "at" is more common when you're talking about a physical location for something: "The advertisement I saw at the train station."

If you advertised at the Times, it would mean you were standing outside the building housing the newspaper handing out filers or wearing a sandwich board or something.
