advocacy specialist

Hi,
I am translating a cv of some guy who once worked as an advocacy specialist in the International Telecommunication Union of UN and the European Commission. Now I could not quite be sure what an advocacy specialist does, because there is no context in the resume. It is just one sentence that goes like "X served as an advocacy specialist in the International Telecommunication Union of UN." And that's it:)
But the guy has also an LLM, so I am thinking it is more like a legal position... Not like an attorney, but some other position... Or is it like an attorney?

"Advocacy specialist" is not a standard word or title.

As has been pointed out frequently in this forum, there is little standardization of titles in English and generally speaking, they are whatever the employer wants to use.

I suggest you corner the person who wrote it and ask (nicely) what he means by that.

Lobbyist seems to be a reasonable definition...
    Thank you...

and yes, i know titles vary in every language... every company/organization has a different style... still I needed to be sure... And of course as the last course of action, I will ask him...
    Thank you also
