after all

My restaurant profit of 30 thousand isn’t that great after all----at least at economic sense.

What does the function and meaning of "after all"? Generally speaking, we also use this phrase of "after all" in this context, "After all, the time isn't so late." So, someone give me an clearly explanatory and an example?

"After all" expresses the nuance that you had expected a different outcome, maybe said it to someone else, and it turns out not to be true.
If you really want to see a film and get all your friends to go, and it turns out to be a boring / bad film, you can say 'that film wasn't that great after all'.
