airbag pop out

Hello:

I and my daughter sat in the passenger seat of our car, she saw an airbag sign and asked me what it was, I told her: "There is an airbag under this sign, the airbag will pop out if our car crashes into something, so it can protect your head. "

Can I use "pop out" here? (I know I can use "jump out" but it is figurative)

Thank you.

Inflate, pop-out or balloon (as a verb).

I would favor "balloon" (verb) as it is more visual for a child.

For all others I would use "deploy" as Rover suggests.
