alcance [alcanza]

I received an email from a friend's mother stating how far my friend had to travel to see me and how much money he had. Then she wrote in the next line,

"[Daniel tiene cincuenta dolares. Esta 168 kilometros de Austin.] A el solo le alcance para llegar ahi en esto".

Could you please help me translate the sentence that has the word "alcance" in it? I do not understand what she is trying to tell me about my friend.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

    The correct word is "alcanza".

Daniel has fifty dollars. He's 168 kilometres away from Austin. He will only get that far with that amount (I guess that "en" stands for "con").
