all but / nothing but

Hello everyone !

I wondered what was the difference between "all but" and "nothing but".

I think "all but" can be translated by "quasiment" or "presque" but I know there is some confusion with "nothing but" when translated in French...

Can somebody help me ?

Je ne vois pas bien ce que tu sous-entends mais all but a effectivement le sens de presque tandis que nothing but a celui de seulement et pourra se traduire de diverses façons, le choix dépendant comme d'habitude du contexte...

En fait, j'ai remarqué que j'avais tendance à confondre 'all but' et nothing but' quand j'étais confronté avec l'un ou l'autre...

Il me semblait qu'il fallait faire attention lorsqu'on tombait sur "nothing but" et que souvent il était mal traduit...
