    It is spelled with a yaa, but it is common in Egypt to write the yaa without the dots -- a practice which I personally think should be avoided on this language learning forum in which correct spelling is important. It would help to also avoid any confusion that may arise among learners.

    The word I use in Palestinian Arabic is فايق (faaye2).
    صاحي is also used.

    In Iraqi Arabic its mostly قاعد, but قايم is also common. صاحي may be used but not a lot because it mostly means conscious (i.e., not fainted or in a coma) and sober.
