    I'm wondering why was (singular), instead of were (plural) is used here:

    Asa responded by removing all the silver and gold that was left in the treasuries of the Temple of the Lord and the royal palace.
    1 Kings 15:18a (NLT)

    Because it's seen as a single entity, which I think is also indicated by the fact that both are qualified by only one article.
