For me the use of the negative gives the aspect that you really hope you will, although you think the balance of probability is not - or at the very least adds an extra nuance.

What is the part in bold supposed to mean?

Thanks.

(A note for the moderators: I've tried to send a PM, but I wasn't able to do so owing to timpeac's exceeded stored private messages quota, therefore, I've decided to ask it here; if it is not acceptable - please let me know. Thank you for your understanding.)

I think Tim meant to say this:
For me the use of the negative gives the aspect that you really hope you will, although you think the balance of probability is not that you won't
