Would you say "I am a former student of yours" or "I was a former student of yours" if I was a student last year and graduated?

I would say "I am a former student of yours". :tick:

    If I were to say
"I was a former student of yours", it would imply that I am no longer a former student of yours - which is clearly impossible. :)

"I was a former student of yours" would mean that I was a student, then I was a former student, and now I am a student again.
