amaze someone / make someone surprised

Can you please help me understand the difference between them? For example, are they equal in meaning in the sentences below? Thanks.

She's amazed them for a while.
She's made them surprised for a while.

    It’s a strange statement, and there’s no obvious reason to use “make someone surprised” as your verb, rather than just using surprise (or amaze) in the normal way: She’s surprised/amazed them.
