I'm not sure if "following Novak Djokovic’s victory over Russia’s Andrey Rublev" adjectivally modifies only "the celebrations".

It seems to me that the "following" in post #1 is different from the "following" in "He took charge of the family business following his father's death".
"following" does not mean "that followed".
I'd like to know your take on that.

My take on it is that "following" can be replaced with "after" in both those sentences.

The key difference is that "following his father's death" logically cannot modify "family business", so it must modify "took charge".
