Innocent people suffered very much among/between/in the middle of serious hostility, conflicts and isolation.

Hello everybody

I wrote this sentence above and I am a bit confused about the correct word to use in this sentence.
As I know 'between' is used with only two words so I should say: 'between conflicts and isolation'.
I wonder if I can use 'among' with three words. ('among serious hostility, conflicts and isolation')

Thanks in advance.

Neither "among" nor "between" works here, and "between conflicts and isolation" is rather unclear. You're better off with "in the midst of" or "amid(st)."
