During Shakespeare's lifetime, the play was one of his most popular works,[2] and it still ranks high among his most-performed, topping, for example, the Royal Shakespeare Company's list since 1879.

Hi,i am very confused with that sentence above.
Where, does it omit sth? Does "among his most-performed, topping" modify "it" preceding "still"? Then what does " the Royal Shakespeare Company's list " modify?
Thank you in advance!

Let see what we can do:

    During Shakespeare's lifetime,
the Hamlet was one of his most popular works,
and Hamlet still ranks high among his most-performed (plays),
topping, for example, the Royal Shakespeare Company's list since 1879.
being at the top of the Royal shakespeare Company's list since 1879.
being the top of the list of plays of the Royal Shakespeare Company since 1879.
Hamlet is at the top of the list of the Royal...
Hamlet is number one on the list of plays performed by the Royal...

    Thank you! TimLA.
    I got it.
I should have caught the meaning of that sentence .
It is "for example" that disturbed me ,and In addition,it omitted "plays" after "most-perormed" .
It use "topping the Royal Shakespeare Company's list since 1879" to exemplify how it " ranks high ",so it use "for exmple" there.
