among others

I have got a grammar question. Does among others refer both to persons and things (entities) ?

In Dutch, onder anderen (among others) refers to persons only, if I am not mistaken.
Onder andere (among other things) refers to things.

Thanks for your help.

We can use others to refer to other things.

I don't like this car. Do you have any others?
Some tigers like human flesh, others prefer goat.

I suspect the matter is complicated and will investigate further.

P.S. I've not been able to find, or think of, any problem with this, which is not to say there isn't one.
