    It's from Latin "amor". You should be able to find this in any dictionary.

    Edit: whoops, this is English Only. "Amour" is a French word.

    prop, forum rules require that simple Internet searches be attempted before a question creating a new thread. In this case, simply searching Google for amour etymology yields multiple web pages discussing this. The first two links returned are merriam-webster.com and etymonline.com (the Online Etymology Dictionary), both of which I highly recommend.
