Hi,
The quote is from the story "Excepting Mrs. Pentherby" by H. H. Munro.

Is "Albino elephant" an useless thing? Could you clear the point in the text for me ; thanks.

It was Reggie Bruttle's own idea for converting what had threatened to be an albino elephant into a beast of burden that should help him along the stony road of his finances.

An "albino elephant" is the writer's way of referring to a "white elephant", which is a standard figure of speech. You will find it in the WR dictionary; just enter the phrase "white elephant" at the search box at the top of this page.
