Anal-themed?

I was puzzled to read this morning in this film review the following: Six British women in a variety of anal-themed scenes with Ben Dover himself.

The expression anal-themed scores an alarming 2,170,000 hits on Google, so it must be widely understood by modern young people.

I was comforted to see that there are no examples in either the AE or the BE corpus, and the ngrams don't register it, so it's not found its way into many books yet.

I am assuming, not too naively, I hope, that we are concerned here with the second of the WR dictionary's definitions, relating to a stage of psychosexual development during which the child's interest is concentrated on the anal region and excremental functions, ie. that these women are talking of their memories of early childhood, and the development of their sensibilities vis-à-vis other people.

Am I right in this? and what is an anal-themed scene, as opposed to a discussion about feelings in early childhood?

I'm not sure what you were expecting, but it certainly wouldn't be the WR definition. The title of the film is The xXx Factor 2: The Next Level -- and we know what a Triple-X (XXX) means, i.e. pornography. In this case, anal intercourse.

And it has Ben Dover (a re-spacing of "bend over") in it. From Wikipedia: Simon James Honey (born 23 May 1956 in Sittingbourne, Kent), better known as Ben Dover, is an English pornographic actor, director and producer.

If it helps you sit more comfortably, I found only 43,000 raw hits on Google, but as we know, you need to go to the last page of results to find a more realistic number: 623 results.

It won't take much searching for the film title to get you graphic descriptions of the movie.

How amusing! Thank you, Copyright. I didn't know what XXX meant. British prime-time television didn't show such films when I was in the country. I should have seen through the subtlety of Mr Dover.

From a purely grammatical point of view, I wondered why it didn't say anally-themed. Anally-themed has over 11 million Google hits, so some of the people who like doing these things are more interested in grammar than others.

Images of sexual penetration involving any combination of penis, vagina, anus and mouth are legally prohibited on British televisions. You won't find them at any times, despite the marketing assertions of the adult channels.

Thank you, Kevin. That is a great source of comfort to me.

I ought to come on this forum more often; I've never felt so well informed.
