...and did some handbrake turns on her gravel paths

One day, me and some mates went out to Helena's place and did some handbrake turns on her gravel paths, and she went spare and yelled that they'd been all ranked and nice and everything was wrecked now now, and,of course, I felt guilty. -I AM ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIĆ

Since I have never seen that kind of construction, I don't know what the bolded line means at all. Could you explain this to me please?

You pull the handbrake and make the car suddenly and violently change or reverse direction. If there is enough space, this can be fun. It surely is if the car is not yours. :D Incidentally, pay attention to the spelling of 'handbrake'...

Thanks for the picture and the explanation. Now that I see the meaning, I would like to ask a question about grammar. Why is it "turns", not "turn" there?
