There was one man, I thought, if he would buy me, I should be happy. He was not a
gentleman, nor yet one of the loud, flashy sort that call themselves so. He was rather a
small man, but well made, and quick in all his motions.

Does this mean he was smart? I cannot understand why should he be described as being fast or moving fast!!
Please, explain this phrase. It is from Sewell's 'Black Beauty'

    I am sure it is referring to physical movements, and not mental activity. The suggestion might be that people who can move quickly can work or think quickly and efficiently.
