Apologizing for not being well

Hi All,

Please could someone help me translate the following sentence?

"I'm sorry about last weekend. I became very ill and am only just recovering. I've been like a rabbit, stuck in bed. Thanks for being such a nice gentleman. I'll give you a call later."

    Ciao! Secondo me potrebbe essere "Mi dispiace per lo scorso fine settimana. Sono stata molto malata e mi sto appena riprendendo (rimettendo solo adesso). Sembravo un coniglio, ficcata (incastrata) nel letto. Grazie per essere così gentile (gentil'uomo). Ti chiamerò più tardi"

    Mi dispiace per lo scorso weekend. Sono stata malata e solo adesso mi sto riprendendo. Sono stata come un coniglio, bloccata a letto. Grazie per essere stato così carino/affettuoso/ premuroso (I don't think un gentiluomo would fit in this context). Ti chiamerò più tardi.

    Notes: Actually the reference to the rabbit sounds weird in Italian,that's why I'd probably omit it saying just "Sono stata bloccata a letto" (I know that something gets lost in the translation but I cannot think of another animal that we usually use in such a context). Then what do you mean by such a gentleman? Attentive, sweet, kind..? If so, choose among the adjectives I provided.
    Finally, are you a woman addressing to a man, aren't you?
