Hi friends!
Is there a clear difference between appliance and machine?

In a short-story that I'm translating, a man has a few jobs:
"running errands, fixing appliances, repairing old machines...

It's hard for me to understand the difference between the last 2 actions. Fixing an appliance and repairing a machine...
Can you help me? ;)

Appliances are normally household machines with set purposes (stove, refrigerator, washer, etc.), whereas 'machine' suggests larger, less domestic devices (engines, tractors, cars etc.)

In a home, certain things are considered appliances, others would be considered machines, with some natural distinction existing based on their use.

    Thank you my Canadian friends!:D
Do you think that any of those 2 terms could be used for a car or something like that?
