    Hi. There is no fixed form for this phrase in English. I've seen people call it the "palaver tree", the "word tree", or the "discussion tree". However, I think for the concept, the best expression would be "under the baobab" or "under the baobab tree". It seems that phrase indicates the type of tree under which people sit and discuss.

    what about 'parley tree'? This was a word used by Africans when expressing their shock at the scale of human loss in the first world war: 'Why didn't they call a parley'?
