Namaste,
Dear members.

Help me to answer this, to me both #1 & #2 okay, but there must be some difference/preference.

If you _______ this report by next Friday, you will be able to discuss it at our meeting on Friday afternoon.
A. Are reading
B. Have read
C. Would read
D. Must read

Thank you.

"by next Friday" means "the action will have been complete any time before next Friday" so needs to be preceded by a past tense. e.g. If you have found the correct answer by this afternoon you should be pleased with yourself;)

B is meant as the correct answer. (Well, I agree that it is, of course :D )
C might probably work as an overly polite request
