arme aux cotés; arme à la bretelle

This is in context of whether military personnel are allowed to be armed when flying on military aircraft. It describes "un embarquement avec arme aux cotés ou à la bretelle".

I'm thinking "sidearm" and "shoulder holster firearm", but I don't actually see this translation anywhere. Any ideas?
