Arrest/apprehend/bust/detain

Hi,
what's the difference between these four words? They seem to convey the same meaning, right? I can't distinguish the usage of each word.

For example, can I use all four in the following sentence?
He was arrested/apprehended/busted/detained when he was trying to cross the borders.
