"According to the prosecution, Nemtsov, who was assassinated on February 27, 2015, just before midnight as he walked across the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge next to the Kremlin, was shot six times by Zaur Dadaev, a former officer of the “Sever” internal-forces battalion, which is based in Chechnya." Please explain if the implied meaning would be same same had one written. " as he was walking ..was shot". As I has been taught, past simple implies an action that started, was happening and then ended while past continuous captures action "in the middle of happening". Can't make sense. As I see it, he was shot in the middle of action " walking " . Thanks and sorry for somewhat rambling thoughts. David Satter
